Salon Perfect Neons: Purple POP! and Wrapped Around My Pink-y

It's probably the hottest time of the summer and I always reach for neons--especially on my toes. Today I have two affordable neons from the Salon Perfect collection and they have great formulas and work well with nail art. So let's take a look.

A misconception about Salon Perfect is that they are dupes of China Glaze colors. While they are owned by the same parent company, the polishes are NOT dupes. But you can expect similar quality in the colors and these neons were wonderful to work with.

Purple POP: 2 coats. This is a great shade of purple. It's not the typical neon jelly purple but almost like a neon lavender. It's definitely unique in my collection. The formula was great. Like all neons, the polishes dry semi-matte. I used one coat of Salon Perfect Fast Dry Top Coat in these photos.

Wrapped Around My Pink-y: 3 coats. HOLY MOLY! Look at how bright this is! This is the picture of neon. It's a bit sheerer and needed three coats for opacity. Topped with one coat of Salon Perfect Top Coat.

 

I then played with the two neons to see how they worked together. First I did the dry brush technique where you wipe off most of the polish in the bottle and literally drag the polish brush over the nail. Because Wrapped Around my Pink-y is a bit sheerer, this was a subtle effect.

Then I created dots around my tips with Purple POP! Since it is more more opaque, I didn't even need to go over the dots. I love the simplicity of this look. I left the purple in its natural state so you could see how it is somewhat matte.
